It’s officially December, which means that Christmas is just around the corner and already my excitement is starting to build up.
I love this time of the year, it’s almost as if the Christmas spirit is in the air. This time of the year, for me, means family, loved ones, presents, appreciation and who can miss the food.
It’s become family tradition each year for my entire family to gather at a relative’s home, where we would set the table, open gifts together and just spend the day eating, laughing and having a great time together. No-one can make gammon the way the women in my family do. With the perfect combination of sweet and sour, they use a special traditional family recipe of preparing the pork by glazing it with a mixture of apricot jam, lemon and cinnamon which is layered on the top and the gammon before cooking.
