If you thought that the only way you could win at Montecasino was by trying your hand of luck at their casino slots and tables, think again as the popular Johannesburg destination has introduced their new rewards card programme.

The Montecasino rewards programme is open to all persons over the age of 18 to benefit from instant rewards, immediate earnings like points earned when playing at slots and tables, free or exclusive parking, movie and event discounts, restaurant and accommodation discounts and much more.

In order to register for the programme, all I had to do was to visit the customer service desk at Montecasino on the main casino floor. The desk is open 24 hours, 7 days a week and all that was requested from me was either my South African ID, driver’s licence or passport in order to sign up for the card which was free.

Just like that, I was issued my very own Montecasino rewards card and could instantly start reaping the rewards that come with my gold piece of plastic.

The rewards programme works on a points accumulation basis. The more I use my card by swiping it at the slot machines and tables, the more points I accumulate. The gold card is the programme’s base card, so once I accumulate 5 000 points over a rolling 12 month period, I will then qualify for a platinum card and after accumulating 150 000 points, I then move up to black card status. All points accumulated on my card are valid for 12 months before expiration, if they are not used.

With every different type of card status (from gold to black) different discounts apply. The higher you are ranked as a cardholder, the higher the discounts you receive from playing at the casino to parking, eating, accommodation, entertainment and more.

  • To redeem your points as gaming points, simply insert your card into the slot machine card reader and follow the prompts to convert your points to credits. Visit the customer service desk for information on how to convert your points to tables credits.
  • Benefit from the parking perks by exchanging your parking ticket for a R10 FreePlay voucher at the customer service desk, giving you a chance to play at the slots for the money you used to pay for parking.
  • Receive entertainment discounts by presenting your ID and active card when booking show tickets or movie tickets.
  • Receive discounts on meals at selected restaurants at Montecasino by presenting your valid card.
  • As a cardholder also get 10% accommodation discount on standard rates at participating Tsogo Sun hotels in South Africa (excludes the Garden Court and StayEasy hotels) and 5% accommodation discount on the SunBreaks leisure rates.

Please note that all cardholders will be notified via SMS and Email of various promotions, from shows to restaurant discounts, to get your points balance, as well as their expiry.

Rewards cards like these are a great way of increasing customers and interest into your establishment, whether it be a store, salon, retailer or, in this case, a casino.

And for friends or family members visiting from out of town, or who would like a taste of what’s on offer at Montecasino, spoil them with a Montecasino gift card. For everything from dining to shopping, a hotel stay, a spa treatment or entertainment, a Montecasino gift card offers endless opportunities. Get a gift card loaded to a minimum value of R50 and a maximum value of R3500, giving you a variety of choice.

Gift cards are accepted by selected stores and service outlets at Montecasino and can be purchased at the Montecasino information desk.

So now you too can be a winner at Montecasino, simply by signing up for their rewards programme , swiping and earning some instant points to enjoy however best suits you. If not, how about a spoil with a Montecasino gift card? proving why Montecasino can confidently say “We’ve Got It”.

It’s new year’s day and as tradition goes in my family, it’s a day of family fun, braai-ing and loads of laughs. Despite being away from home, I will be sticking to tradition and with Robindale and Ferndale Spar’s Sparbucks programme and their “My Spar loyaltykard”, I have all the more reason to.

Sandton-20131231-01142

Living right around the corner from Ferndale Spar, I decided to register for the Sparbucks programme. All I had to do was to go to their kiosk counter where I was requested to fill in my details, including my name, address, email address and contact details and immediately thereafter,  I could use my card to swipe on my purchases and redeem loyalty points instantly.

With the “My Spar loyaltykard”, cardholders gain special privileges including specials on selected goods only for cardholders.

The only downside about this programme is that, because it is currently being run as a pilot, Ferndale and Robindale Spar’s in Johannesburg are the only one’s running with it, however, if you are in the vicinity, make use of the programme and reap many great rewards.

With the programme, earn points when shopping at participating retailers and have access to exclusive deals, competitions and promotions and save money while you’re at it. You can manage and redeem your points online and the exclusive deals activate at the till instantly.

Receive emails and SMS’s notifying you or their latest deals, specials and promotions and never miss out on a saving.

spar

Saving on your grocery spend has just become easier. Earn 1 Sparbuck for each R1 you spend and earn 10 000 Sparbucks before making your first redemption. When redeeming, every 100 Sparbucks earned is equivalent to R1 for you to spend on your earnings. Redemptions are done in store at the terminal. To check up on your balance, simply visit their site.

Now I can easily and happily go do my new year’s day braai shopping, knowing that what I’ll be gaining goes beyond simply my purchases, but I get rewarded at the same time.

Here’s to hoping that the Sparbucks programme rolls out to other Spar’s too, so that you can reap the benefits just as I have.

It’s festive and to start your 2014 off on a memorable note, Cresta Shopping Centre is feeling generous. Walking through the mall over the weekend, the shops were buzzing with eager shoppers ready to spend and stand a chance to walk away a winner.

Be a winner with Cresta and try your luck at walking away with tons gift cards worth a total value of R18 000 each month to use as you please. As if that’s not enough already, you could also possibly start your year off on a sassy note with the grand prize of driving off in a brand new Peugeot 208GTi.

To be one of the lucky shoppers all you need to do is to  simply spend R500 or more at the mall, grab one of the competition envelopes at the info kiosk near Checkers and attach your original till slip/s to it.

Randburg-20131227-01092

With all your Christmas shopping, grocery shopping and even self-spoil splurges, collecting till slips to the value of R500 should not be all that tough and with such amazing prizes, it’s definitely worth the spend of every cent.

Till slips from various stores can be combined to make up the R500 minimum spend. You are then eligible to be entered into the competition every month between 1 September 2013 and 31 May 2014. You can enter as many times as you like, provided that your entry is accompanied by original till slips.

So hurry up, make your way to Cresta Shopping Centre and try your luck. The festive fever is of a high dose this year, so who knows? You could just be a lucky winner.

 eastgate

Festive fever has hit with full force and to reward you for all your Christmas spending, Eastgate Mall wants to give back to you.

This season, Eastgate Mall is the gift that keeps on giving as they give shoppers the opportunity to walk away R50 000 richer with their gift card giveaway. Spend R300 or more at the mall, pop your slip in their draw box at the customer services counter and stand a chance to win a R50 000 gift card, it’s as simple as that.

With the silly season upon us, spending R300 on almost anything from groceries to presents is quite an easy feat and definitely worth it if you could possibly walk away with an extra R50 000 in your pocket. Now you can spend your winnings on all of your heart’s desires, whether it be that “self-spoil” that you’ve been eyeing for months or even a home revamp, it’s all up to you.

With a gift card, you can now manage your spending, spend without the concern of losing cash or having it stolen. You are also able to check and manage your card balance using the whatsonmycard application, which allows you to see how much you’ve spent and how much more shopping you can do using your card. All you would need to do is to visit the whatsonmycard site, enter your card number and the security code displayed, and just like that, your card balance will be made available to you. The application is available to all Android, Apple and BlackBerry devices.

Shopping mall gift cards, like the one being given away at Eastgate Mall, are valid for three years giving you more than enough time to decide what you would spend your winnings on.

The competition is only valid for purchases made to the value of R300 or over between December, 6 and December, 22 2013 and the draw for the winner will be done next week Monday, December, 23.

MasterCard holders are in luck and can experience pure luxury with the MasterCard Priceless Africa Program, an exclusive collection of experiences especially designed for cardholders to explore unique moments in cities and places across South Africa.

Let your MasterCard reward you with priceless moments and offers as a way of thanking you for being a loyal member. Experience all your favourite activities ranging from dining to shopping, sports, having a look at some exciting attractions, travel, entertainment and much more.

Excited to explore which options I could treat myself to through the Priceless Africa Program, I registered online at www.pricelessafrica.com by filling in all my details and creating my very own profile.

Hereafter, the options were endless for me to choose from and to redeem, so I browsed through the different experiences available to me before making my choice.

After browsing through various travel and dining options, it only made sense for me to choose something that would be accessible to me in Johannesburg, so I opted for a “Buy 1 & get 1 free” offer at the Karoo Cattle and Land restaurant.

The Selcted Offer

My next step was to actually redeem my voucher by clicking on “Get Voucher” which then took me to a page instructing me what I would need to do to qualify for the special.

The Confirmation after selecting the offer

As instructed, I redeemed my voucher by viewing and printing it, it was that simple! Now I have the voucher loaded on to my profile, allowing me to print it again, should my copy get lost or damaged. Online vouchers, such as these and similarly, SMS vouchers, are a fast growing phenomenon. From other companies and brands like Shoprite to Groupon and more, online vouchers are seemingly becoming the way forward in shopping trends.

The Voucher itself

So there you have it, I just scored a dinner, including a complimentary dinner for a partner, all thanks to MasterCard. I can now choose to spoil a family member, friend or a loved one in a range of ways through this new offering and I’m excited to explore more new MasterCard memories to come. Go all out this festive and spoil yourself with some amazing treats like these.

The Christmas season is always filled with the hustle and bustle of running around, trying to figure out if you’ve bought enough presents for everyone, if  you’ve budgeted enough for your spends and if the grocery cupboards are stocked up for all your visitors. I now understand why this time of the year has also been dubbed, “the silly season”, because it seems that the amount of spending – even sometimes without realising it – can become quite silly and overwhelming.

Various banks. including FNB eBucks, Nedbank Greenbacks, Standard Bank UCount Rewards and Investec’s Dividents Rewards Programme, have introduced their very own rewards programmes for times just like these. Simply by swiping your card, depending on who you bank with, you can instantly gain rewards which can be saved and used when you need that extra cash to spend.

Because I bank with Absa, I was able to reap the benefits of the Absa Rewards programme where I pay only R21 a month to gain rewards everytime I swipe my debit card. Rewards redemptions vary in amounts, depending on where I swipe my card, offering me highter redemptions if I swipe at any of Absa’s redemption partners.

You can imagine my surprise this week when I realised I could spend a little bit more without the added expense, all thanks to my Absa Rewards and my Pick n Pay Smart Shopper account.

My family have decided to visit me in Johannesburg for Christmas this year. Being Christmas time, I want to be able to spoil them with yummy treats and sweet goodies, especially for my younger little cousins, making their Christmas away from home that much more memorable.

My Absa Rewards, which I had gained from swiping my Absa debit card at various outlets, allows me the option of choosing to redeem my rewards either as cash, airtime, shopping vouchers, giving back to charity or redeeming through their Redemption Partners (Pick n Pay Smart Shopper points or Dischem Benefit Programme points). This came in really handy to get those extra grocery goods for the family and redeeming my Absa Rewards as Pick n Pay Smart Shopper points was such an easy process.

All I had to do was to call the Absa Rewards customer care line on 0861 788 888. Once I was on the line, I prompted to press number “1” on my phone which gave me the option of redeeming my rewards. I was then put through to an operator who was very helpful in converting my rewards to my Smart Shopper points, now redeemable at any Pick n Pay. All I had to do was to provide him with my South African ID number, he confirmed my details, asked how much of my rewards I wanted redeemed as Smart Shopper points and just like that, it was done.

To make things even better, because of this kind of redemption of my Absa Rewards, I gained an extra 15% on the amount redeemed, giving me even more to spend.

For security purposes and to keep me, as the customer, in the know about my transactions, I received two SMSes, one alerting me of my redemption transaction and another letting me know what my remaining rewards balance was.

You can redeem your Absa Rewards online too if you are registered with their online or cellphone banking. If not, visit their website to sign up.

As easy as that, I was able to go to my nearest Pick n Pay and spend using my Smart Shopper points, without any extra expense to me. Now I can spoil my family, with no extra costs incurred. I’ve rewarded myself this Christmas, why don’t you?

Pink, most certainly was not the colour of sissies as thousands of people came out in masses this past Sunday to walk in solidarity at the 2013 Avon Justine iThemba Walkathon.

Promoting the notion that ‘Early Detection Saves Lives’, the annual walkathon is a crusade which is walked by many who are in support of those either suffering from cancer, those who have lost the battle to cancer and those who have survived the illness.

The Tutuka team came to the party again this year, donning our pink and white t-shirts, a positive attitude and big smiles. There’s nothing quite like starting your Sunday morning off with a 5km walk, and with our crazy bunch, it sure was entertaining and the best part of it all was that it was all done in aid of a good cause.

100_5264

Our numbers may have started off small at first, but Team Tutuka was as enthusiastic as ever to get the show on the road and start walking.

100_5267 100_5270

On your marks, get set, GO!! Team Tutuka proved that a smile really does go a long way, the 5km walk seemed like a breeze with Tutukans full of smiles from the get go

100_5271

Even the tiny Tutukans came along and showed off what great sports they were

100_5278

A Tutuka totem pole? What’s a team without the team work?

100_5281

Pink was the new black at Sunday’s walk as avid walkers dressed up and pulled out all the stops to show just how supportive they were of the cause

100_5276

Even among the crowds of walkers, Team Tutuka stood out from the rest, walking kilometer by kilometer with ease

100_5288

We did it! Barely breaking a sweat, Team Tutuka made it to the end, all smiles still intact

100_5292

What’s a team event without a victory meal to seal the deal? After a fun walk, Team Tutuka enjoyed a well-deserved lunch with our very own Tutuka waiter

With a good spirit, a good team, great attitudes and a hearty lunch, it’s safe to say that Team Tutuka did their part in fighting for the cause of cancer. Avon Justine iThemba Walkathon, see you again next year!
