It’s festive and to start your 2014 off on a memorable note, Cresta Shopping Centre is feeling generous. Walking through the mall over the weekend, the shops were buzzing with eager shoppers ready to spend and stand a chance to walk away a winner.

Be a winner with Cresta and try your luck at walking away with tons gift cards worth a total value of R18 000 each month to use as you please. As if that’s not enough already, you could also possibly start your year off on a sassy note with the grand prize of driving off in a brand new Peugeot 208GTi.

To be one of the lucky shoppers all you need to do is to  simply spend R500 or more at the mall, grab one of the competition envelopes at the info kiosk near Checkers and attach your original till slip/s to it.

With all your Christmas shopping, grocery shopping and even self-spoil splurges, collecting till slips to the value of R500 should not be all that tough and with such amazing prizes, it’s definitely worth the spend of every cent.

Till slips from various stores can be combined to make up the R500 minimum spend. You are then eligible to be entered into the competition every month between 1 September 2013 and 31 May 2014. You can enter as many times as you like, provided that your entry is accompanied by original till slips.

So hurry up, make your way to Cresta Shopping Centre and try your luck. The festive fever is of a high dose this year, so who knows? You could just be a lucky winner.

During the busy Christmas season and the sudden spike in shopping trends, everybody is out to look for a bargain wherever they can get one.

This season, Woolworths Rewards (WRewards) members are in luck, as you can score a R50 discount off clothing purchases to the value of R250 or more.

As a WRewards member myself, I was pleasantly surprised to get an SMS issuing me with a voucher number, making me liable for the great discount. This came just at the right time, as Christmas time is always perfect to cash in on those discounts to get gifts, buy some last minute goods or even just to treat yourself.

SMS vouchers are a great way of issuing vouchers and helps to reduce the risk of voucher loss and theft. When a customer receives a SMS voucher, they will need to present the SMS at the preferred shopping centre or retailer, in this case, Woolworths, where the voucher can then be redeemed directly from the SMS. Many banks are using these kinds of vouchers for their rewards programmes like Absa Rewards, FNB eBucks and others as well as retailers like Sportsmans Warehouse, Woolworths and Makro to name just a few. They have all moved with the times and have become technologically savvy in issuing these kinds of vouchers.

So off I went to my nearest Woolworths store, excited to purchase my goods and reap the benefits of my R50 discount on any clothing items, except for the Country Road and Trenery brands.

I must commend the staff at the Woolworths branch who were very friendly and helpful to answering any questions I had to ask about the discount voucher, from whether or not it qualified to both adult and children clothing purchases, underwear and the likes, which it did apply to.

After gathering all my wanted purchases, I headed to the till where the cashier rung up all my items and swiped my WRewards card, allowing me to, on top of my discount, gain rewards on my purchases. She then requested for my SMS voucher number that was sent to me. After entering the number into the system, automatically R50 was deducted off my total amount, leaving me happy and saving some on my buy.

Christmas is the time for giving and Woolworths have remained true to just that by rewarding their WRewards clients. If the Christmas spirit alone isn’t enough to have you feeling happy, redeem your Woolies R50 discount and add that little bit of extra cheer to your season.

*The WRewards discount is only valid until 14 December 2013 and includes all clothing purchases except for the Trenery and Country Road brands.

It’s been eight years since the processing of the first MasterCard shopping centre gift cards in South Africa and Tutuka staff celebrated in true birthday fashion, blowing out candles and cutting a cake.

In 2005, Tutuka launched South Africa’s first prepaid MasterCard. This now opened new opportunities for shopping centres and meant that they could have their own shopping centre gift cards with their own centre branding and the card could be used at any store within the shopping centre.

The card was then launched at five shopping centres around South Africa. These were particularly selected because of their significance in size and distribution around the country. Tutuka, together with Standard Bank, MasterCard and Altech supported these cards.

Today there are approximately 50 shopping centres around South Africa that use the prepaid MasterCard gift cards.

“Having launched the very first open loop gift cards in South Africa 8 years ago when the concept was not known, and watching it grow to a stage where these cards are issued at most shopping centres and by corporates is a proud achievement,”  said Tutuka’s Director of New Business and Marketing, Drisha Nair.

“We could not have accomplished this without the help of our partners Standard Bank, MasterCard and Altech. The partnership has resulted in the largest footprint of MasterCard gift cards issuance across South Africa.”

Here’s to a eight great and very successful years and many, many more to come in the future.
